I support a smarter transportation system that works for neighborhoods, motorists, transit-users, pedestrians, and cyclists.
The City Of Missoula; State of Montana and the Federal Highway Administration’s design for Russell Street is going to be 5 lanes from Broadway to Mount with massive signalized intersections. It will prompt the removal of at least 10 homes and 9 businesses and is being designed to carry as much traffic as Reserve Street supports today.
I, the undersigned, urge the City of Missoula, the State of Montana, and the U.S. Federal Highway Administration to re-build Missoula’s Russell Street – between the Clark Fork River and Mount Avenue – according to the “3-PLUS for RUSSELL” model developed by neighborhood residents and local citizen transportation groups. The 3-PLUS system will be safer, less expensive, much less disruptive to local residents and businesses, and will ultimately reduce congestion by encouraging more diversity of users on the Russell Street corridor. This form will be submitted as public comment on the Russell/3rd Street project.
